Editing / mentoring

As a poetry editor, I’ve worked with over 150 poets on books including three PBS selections, a Telegraph poetry book of the month and two Laurel Prize longlisted collections. I’m available for poetry mentoring and manuscript feedback.

Prices

Manuscript feedback: £425 (collections) or £350 (pamphlets)
Single sessions (looking at up to 10 pages of poetry): £200
Ongoing mentorship (6 sessions over several months, looking at up to 10 pages each time): £800 (can be paid incrementally)

What happens

  1. You’ll send me your work in a single doc. I’ll spend 2 weeks to a month with your poems.
  2. I’ll engage creatively with your work, looking at how to lift, sharpen, deepen and develop individual pieces, as well as the overall structure and through line of the book or project.
  3. OPTION A: We’ll meet over Zoom or coffee. We’ll talk about what you want from the poems and how to make sure they live out your intention authentically. We’ll discuss line edits, structure and voice; as well as techniques and approaches to help push your writing. I’ll offer advice on where/how to submit your work.
  4. OPTION B: I’ll write a detailed feedback report of your poetry, covering the same points as above (with this option, I’ll ask more questions upfront to make sure I’m addressing your priorities).

Interested? Drop me an email, including a small sample of your work, what you’re looking for, any particular areas or questions you’d like to focus on, and any deadlines or goals you’re working towards. I can only take on 2-3 poets a month, but will aim to respond to your initial email within a week, to let you know when we could start.
